The Touch Screen Monitor Time Clock (TC) for
Microsoft Great Plains SOP is part of the Time Matrix series by
Business Computers Software, Inc. The TC replaces a conventional
electronic/mechanical time clock. It is used to allow production
employees to Clock In at the beginning of their shift and record the
Microsoft Great Plains SOP Order, Line # and Item # they are working
on. During the day they can change the Microsoft Great Plains SOP
Order they are working on. At the end of their shift they Clock
Out. Refer to the Time Matrix for Payroll and Human Resources
manual to see how non-production workers clock in and out. The TC
has a keyboard with letters and numbers on the monitor. It uses
large buttons to make it easy to see and touch with a finger.
Similar to an ATM machine, the TC is easily used by
“computer-challenged” employees. The TC software runs on a personal
computer with Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP. Employee Time can be viewed
from a Logbook and a Calendar. Changing a Microsoft Great Plains SOP
Order or Clocking Out creates a time transaction in the logbook.
Logbook production time transactions are posted to Microsoft Great
Plains Payroll for preparation of payroll checks. Therefore, the TC
eliminates the need to manually type in hourly payroll
transactions. A time transaction Logbook records regular time,
overtime and breaks. The TC is programmed in Dexterity, the same
programming language used by Dynamics/eEnterprise Payroll, Human
Resources and Project Accounting. Any workstation on the network,
that has Dynamics or eEnterprise loaded, can run the TC. A
workstation does not have to have a touch screen monitor to use the
TC. The TC can also be used with a mouse, standard keyboard, a
magnetic card reader or a bar code scanner. The TC can be run in two
modes. The first mode is run under Dynamics/eEnterprise, which
requires a Dynamics/eEnterprise user license. This is the mode that
is used for setup, printing reports and posting to Payroll. The
second mode is a stand-alone Time Clock that does not require
Dynamics/eEnterprise to be running, thus it does not require a
Dynamics/eEnterprise user license. This is the mode that is used to
run only the Time Clock for clocking in and out. Employees who do
not have their own computer can use a Time Clock on the shop floor
or at other central locations. The Time Clock can also be installed
on employees’ desktop computers.
