Time Clock
for Horizons
The Touch Screen Monitor Time Clock
(TC) for Horizons Manufacturing is part of the Time Matrix
series by Business Computers Software, Inc. The TC replaces a
conventional electronic/mechanical time clock. It is used to allow
employees to Clock In at the beginning of their shift and record the
Horizons Work Order, Operation and Work Center they are working on.
During the day employees can change the Horizons Work Order they are
working on. At the end of their shift employees Clock Out. The TC
has a keyboard with letters and numbers on the monitor. It uses
large buttons to make it easy to see and touch with a finger.
Similar to an ATM machine, the TC is easy to use by
“computer-challenged” employees. The TC software runs on a
personal computer with Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP. Employee Time can
be viewed from a Logbook and a Calendar. Changing Horizons Work
Orders or Clocking Out creates a time transaction in the logbook,
and transactions are posted to Great Plains (formally named
Dynamics/eEnterprise) Payroll for preparation of payroll checks.
Therefore, the TC eliminates the need to manually type in hourly
payroll transactions. A time transaction Logbook records regular
time, overtime and breaks. The TC is programmed in Dexterity, the
same programming language used by Great Plains Payroll, Human
Resources and Horizons Manufacturing. Any workstation on the
network, that has Great Plains loaded, can run the TC. A
workstation does not have to have a touch screen monitor to use the
TC. The TC can also be used with a mouse, standard keyboard, a
magnetic card reader or a bar code scanner. The TC can be run in
two modes. The first mode is run under Great Plains, which requires
a Great Plains user license. This is the mode that is used for
setup, printing reports and posting to Payroll, Human Resources and
Horizons Manufacturing. The second mode is run under a stand-alone
Time Clock that does not require Great Plains to be running, thus it
does not require a Great Plains user license (refer to the Time
Logger for Time Matrix manual). This is the mode that is used to
run only the Time Clock for clocking in and out. The TC can be
placed at central locations for use by employees who do not have
their own computer. It can also be placed on employees’ desktop
computers.
